Chapter 12 of Wynne Godley and Marc Lavoie, Monetary Economics: An Integrated Approach to Credit, Money, Income, Production and Wealth extends the open economy model of Chapter 6, allowing for trade in financial assets, accumulation of foreign reserves, and different exchange rate regimes.
There are three different closures for a fixed exchange rate regime:
- OPENFIX, where central bank reserves are endogenous
- OPENFIXR, where the interest rate of one of the two countries is endogenously determined
- OPENFIXG, where one of the countries adjust its government expenditure to offset shocks to its trade balance
And finally, the OPENFLEX model analyzes the two economies under a flexible exchange rate regime.
The Eviews versions for these models can be found here, and reproduce all charts in the book.
