P2P

A graduate student should pay $ 675,000 for downloading 30 songs from a P2P network.
From the charts below I wonder whether the recording industry is being damaged so badly from P2P…
Value added in the Motion picture and Sound recording Industries
Value added in the Motion picture and sound recording industry against internet usage
Internet usage is from InternetWorldStats.com
Addenda: a friend correctly points out that the above charts are obscure…
In principle, if P2P is killing the music industry we should see a sharp drop in profits as P2P users increase. Unfortunately, neither industry profits or P2P usage statistics are readily available (at least to me, for a blog post!) so hopefully value added and internet users should give a reasonable picture. And I cannot see any sharp decline in the size of this industry, which is still relatively larger than in the pre-internet era.

comments/spam 1/1000

Today this site has hit a 1/1000 ratio (!!!) of legitimate comments to spam comments filtered by Akismet. There are 11 comments overall to all my posts, and I deleted 11,169 spams so far… and this is just because I have a guestbook that bots find and spam regularly.
If you happen to be one of the very, very few :-) interested in commenting my posts, you now know why your comment has a high probability of being filtered if you add any url!
